Molonglo Brunswick Townhouses are a collection of architect-designed, three-storey homes set within flourishing gardens. Individually-titled and sustainably designed the homes offer light, air and generous spatiality.

The townhouses provide a much-needed middle ground – more space and autonomy than an apartment (while maintaining a gentle community), without the cost and upkeep of a standalone house.

The seasonal garden is designed by Tim Pilgrim made from 3,200 plants from 50 species. Planting is zoned for part shade, full sun, deep shade and undercover areas. Each zone includes trees, shrubs, grasses and ground-covers that provide year-round interest – from spring-flowering pear and silver birch to summer salvias, verbenas and rosemary, and evergreen ferns, liriope and Fatsia japonica.

Sitting quietly, the architecture is practical and durable, designed from a pared-back selection of solid, honest materials – hardwood timber floors, corrugated metal exterior walls, clear coat aluminium window frames, black limestone pavers, aged cyprus – all chosen to improve with time.

The spaces are dual-aspect and cross-ventilated with floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights. Exposed timber ceilings rise up to 3-metres. Angled windows designed to capture morning sun and mediate afternoon glare.

The townhouses are nestled well-behind Sydney Road, bounded by Florence, Breese and William Streets in one of the most progressive and sustainable residential areas in Melbourne. The surrounding streets have a concentration of local services – supermarkets, green grocers, a post office, dry cleaners, pharmacies – and many loved neighbourhood bars, cafes and restaurants.
Anstey Station (20 mins to Flinders Street) and the Upfield Shared Bike Path (offering a safe 25-minute ride to the CBD) are 200 metres away and the Number 19 tram stop is right out the front. Bulleke-Bek park and playground is a few minutes walk as are several schools and child care centres.
