Kloke Uniforms
The idea of a staff uniform is one that usually triggers shudders; they either feel like fancy dress, or, in an effort to please all, they become deathly palatable.
Molonglo collaborated with Melbourne-based designers KLOKE to create a series of wardrobe pieces for Hotel Hotel staff working across reception, housekeeping and the restaurant and bar. The collection of garments were made in Australia using natural materials – Japanese cottons, linens, flax, cotton-linen blends and cotton-ramie blends. Cuts were unstructured and loose fitting with many gender-neutral pieces.
The wardrobe was identifiable throughout all areas of the hotel including the often-overlooked back of house. Most importantly, the wardrobe was timeless and relaxed. Staff were dressed as though they might be receiving a guest at their own homes; adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the hotel.
